Description of the painting

I am a member of an international peer support group for people with brain injuries. Here you often hear someone talk about caterpillars and butterflies. Instead of crawling on the ground like caterpillars, we can fly. Joe, the founder of the group, uses the image to indicate that beyond the pain and limitations we have, we can still experience freedom and joy.

During a nightly journey, I saw the light of a street lamp through the fog. It reminded me of the moths that you often see fluttering around the lamp at your tent in the summer. Thus began this visual representation of the journey to the light that we all get to take.
