Whilst trying to find the limits of what I could paint without any formal training I found Cinnamon Cooney, The Art Sherpa. She does a lot for starting artists and talks extensively about painting techniques. She also has a beginners course with 10 paintings to practice techniques. The original “Lake and Pier” from this course is a colorful painting. However, I had just received a sample pack of water soluble oil paint. To keep it simple I decided to test this paint in a black and white version of this image. Due to the little water lily leaves it felt a bit like a Monet painting
