The wedding text of my parents talked about the birds of the field. “….They sow not, neither do they reap,….our Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?” (Matt. 6:26). Inspired by that I’ve started a series of bird paintings.
As I was discovering my talent and trying to find the limits of what I could paint without any formal training I found the Bird hop series of Cinnamon Cooney, The Art Sherpa, and her mom Ginger Cook. They do a lot for budding artists and tell you a lot about their painting techniques. This Blue Jay painting taught me that it is indeed harder to paint something you’ve never seen in real life. It was fun to add such an exotic looking bird to my bird painting series.
