After a couple of accidents left me dealing with the effects of brain injury I was rather adrift. Discovering that I inherited the talent for painting from my mom’s side of the family was a life line. It helped me in so many ways during the later therapy sessions! Through this the desire to share those inspiring images with the world started to grow.
My youngest niece has trouble pronouncing my name, Corrie. This is short for Cornelia, but she calls me CoCo, and thus inspired me to create CoCo Creatief. With that label I come to you now. Wishing that you get pulled into a story, even if all you can hear is just the description to the art I create. I hope you get pulled into my story, for just a moment. It might be part of your story too, because the emotions behind the paintings are universal.

Over the past months me and three other beautiful ladies participated in a painting course focused on discovering our own preferred style and elements that we love to incorporate in my art. We learned to see how we carry who we are and are drawn to into our art. The exhibition is the finale of our months together. Come get to know us and what you experience when you look at our art!
The connection to my family and ancestors is one of the core values and drives that I’ve found over the past months. Shared experiences, even if we’ve never met, created a feeling of connection like never before. My love for Eastern art styles became more evident as the months continued. Being challenged to work with collage styles and ink made me bubble over with ideas. A newly found love for ink and Sumi-e style paintings brought me partially back to my childhood and Pergamano art days. It also felt like I was connecting to the generations of teachers in my family. I’ve combined those things with my love for hidden symbolism and present “Heritage from the coast”
“Heritage from the coast” is a collection of paintings and drawings combining my great-grandfathers’ sketches with my own memories and photo’s from the coast. I’ve chosen images that represent my story as I struggle with the effects of my TBI. A story full of hidden details, moments of reflection and nostalgia, and hope for the future
My personal mini collection has been made in part in a semi-pouring style, that I like to call “yoghurt style”. A thick, yet diluted, acrylic paint that I can manipulate just using straws and a palette knife. It’s a style you might have seen on my webpage before. I’ve used it before to work out sketches from my great-grandfather.

Step by step I discover my personal style and grow in my abilities.
This is the next step: letting the world share in my new talent and my story.
