Description of the painting
The wedding text of my parents talked about the birds of the field. “….They sow not, neither do they reap,….our Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?” (Matt. 6:26). Inspired by that I’ve started a series of bird paintings.
As I was discovering my talent and trying to find the limits of what I could paint without any formal training I found the Bird hop series of Cinnamon Cooney, The Art Sherpa, and her mom Ginger Cook. They do a lot for budding artists and tell you a lot about their painting techniques. The Blue Jay painting taught me that it is easier to paint something you’ve seen in real life. Luckily I had seen bee-eaters in Romania. But this painting was also heavily influenced by the Angry Birds. This bee-eater is sitting fully puffed up on a piece of barbed wire on the edge of a meadow.
