I was inspired by reading the account of Jesus’ baptism in Mark 1 and Matt. 17. The opening of the Heavens and the descending dove formed parallels with my own life. In the Norwegian winter I could easily see the Milky Way at night. Norway is also the place where I fully embraced a life as Christian. It put me on a path of hope. I miss the vast night sky here in the Netherlands. Fortunately, there are the memories.

This painting is part of a series in which I try to visualize those memories of my time in Norway. I have tried to capture the clarity, vastness and feeling of being loved that I experienced in this painting.
