Description of the painting

During the Acrylic April Challenge from Cinnamon Cooney I try out new techniques and I experiment within the presented themes. Cinnamon introduced the colourfield theory as part of the abstract theme of the 2023 challenge. To create this piece I let feelings of peace and contentment guide me. I imagined a little buttercup, glistening in the sun, in the middle of your immaculate lawn. It managed to find a little place for itself in your monoculture of grass.
Just imagine it being so satisfied with it’s own pioneering skills!
As this piece is so far removed from my more naturalistic painting style this really felt “Out of the Box” for me. A friend of mine therefore suggested to actually roll with this little inside joke. I liked it; this big square with even more squares, really boxy… Is now called just that: “Out of the Box”

“A friend of mine didn’t understand the painting when she saw it without any explanation. She was indeed quite used to my mare naturalistic style. When she focussed on the feelings it provoked she came with the following description: “It reminds me of warm sunshine on a green, grassy lawn”. It has a positive effect one me. It’s true, sometimes all you need to do is take a moment to investigate what your feelings and intuition tell you.” It showed me that as I paint intentionally, you might not always get where my inspiration came from, but you might connect to the feeling behind the pieces.”
