Whilst trying to find the limits of what I could paint without any formal training I found Cinnamon Cooney, The Art Sherpa. She does a lot for starting artists and talks extensively about painting techniques. She also has a beginners course with 10 paintings to practice techniques. I had some other colors on my palette and used them to represent a favorite toy of many of my foster kittens. A peacock feather. Catching such a large feather is so much fun for most cats.
Every year at least three of these large feathers are sacrificed for charity.
