A study based on a sketch from Jac. J. de Vries.
My great grandfather made many sketches. Most of them are of scenes around the Netherlands. Some of them he turned into charcoal or water colour paintings, a few live on in oils, but most just lived on as just that: sketches. View on the Moor is one of those sketches that never became a painting by his hand. I used pouring medium to dilute the acrylic paint to make the famed Dutch skies and the moorland his sketch come to life in an abstract, full colour painting.
