Winter in Norway

Winter in Norway shows you a landscape frozen in time. The soft light of the sunset or sunrise gives the whole scene a somewhat green-bluish tinge. You are positioned high above the water in the snow. Behind the snow covered bushes and trees you can see the mist covered water. The windless moment allows water to reflect the light blue sky with her peach coloured clouds. On the opposite shore the sun is hidden behind a low ridge of misty hills.

Description of the painting

Norway has a special place in my heart. Much has happened in the three and a half years I got to live and study there. The stillness and rest I experienced there are unique. Winters in Trondheim equal very little sunlight. The sunsets and -rises were often filled with beautiful, soft light. The original photo that was taken by Torunn Hansen, a good friend of mine, really depicted the vast stillness of the landscape. It inspired this frozen moment in time of Winter in Norway.
