This painting was created in a very short time at the end of a worship evening. When we started splitting up in little groups to pray for one another, an image came into my mind with such clarity that I did not hesitate. I grabbed my paint once more and created this dreamlike landscape with trees in whites, pinks and soft purples. The scripture that came with the image reads: “Where two or more are gathered in My Name, I will be with them”. Fun fact: I painted this upside down!

A part of the night sky is painted here. You see part of the milky way above you. Brighter and darker areas in many hues of blue, purple and teal are littered with stars. In the top right corner a white dove is descending.

This beach landscape is a legacy from a sketchbook of my great-grandfather. A large, strong mooring post stands in a gently shimmering sea on the Dutch coast. The sand along the surf is damp and shows the footprints of the two people walking along the water.

This colourfield theory inspired 60x60cm painting starts from a black border and fades into a lush green field. A yellow square with another lush green square inside it make up the entire painting. As this style is so far removed from my more lifelike painting style I decided to call this big square piece “Out of the Box”, because, though it is boxy it’s out of the box for my.

In this very abstract picture depicts choppy white-greenish water and a restless teal blue and greenish sky. The sky seems to be crossed by some flying bird, flying towards the left. The bird itself is hardly visible, but for the different direction of the strokes and the subtle glistening of it’s shape. The end result was a big surprise to myself, as this was painted with my eyes closed from the moment I prepped all my material and positioned dots on the canvas. The first thing that came to mind was the scripture from Genesis 1. I therefore named the painting “Spirit of God”, but in Hebrew; “Veruach Elohim”.

This abstract painting depicts a moorland under an unruly Dutch sky. The stormy sky is very dark blue at the top. A few lighter clouds hang near the horizon over a landscape full of blossoming heather. On the right side the sky is mirrored in a little lake. The landscape, with its purple, green and sand colours, looks wild. This is made possible trough the use of a pouring technique which makes the paint flow in and around each other in an organic way.

A yellow greenish background with a grayer bottom half is the background of this abstract painting named The Fjords. Whilst practising with my palette knives I felt inspired by my time in Norway and seeing the fjords. The masses of stone are depicted in a mix of mostly grey-blue colours. They leave room in the middle of the canvas for the light to shine on the bottom half of the painting, interspersing the grey with white and a coppery orange. Due to the grid that sits on top of the back fjord it also gives the impression of a large ship moving in between two barriers.
