A green bokeh effect is the backdrop for this bird painting. A birdbath is the precarious landing spot for a Blue Jay. It’s wings seem to be flapping as it tries to balance on the edge.

A piece of barbed wire is the perching spot for a Bee-eater. It is sitting there, fully fluffed up, being it’s colourful self. It is boldly looking you straight in the eye.

An orange glow hangs over a foggy scene. Nothing can be seen beyond some branches in the foreground and a few small butterflies moving from the darkness towards the lightest point in the sky. A foggy autumn night is upon you.

This colourfield theory inspired 60x60cm painting starts from a black border and fades into a lush green field. A yellow square with another lush green square inside it make up the entire painting. As this style is so far removed from my more lifelike painting style I decided to call this big square piece “Out of the Box”, because, though it is boxy it’s out of the box for my.

Looking at a landscape from high above, you won’t see much detail. The land is a whirl of interlacing colours in white, brown and green hues. And above that two black birds are flying. One slightly bigger than the other. Both are placed above the land because the palette knife makes the layers of the birds in 3D. If you could touch the painting you could feel the birds above the smoothly poured landscape.
